Contractors announced for major north-west projects

No less than 12 contractors have been selected to help build houses in north-west England during £500 million worth of sustainable development projects.

The projects across the region are being overseen by Innovation Chain North West (ICNW), a partnership of housing associations that includes Great Places Housing Group, Adactus Housing Group, PlusDane Group and Harvest Housing.

As well as the 12 contractors, 31 consultant companies have also been chosen to provide architectural, project management, engineering and building surveying services across the four-year scheme.

Contractors will work on lots valued up to £3.5 million and between £3.5 million and £10 million.

Jim McMillan, assistant director of development at Great Places, said: "This announcement marks a fantastic opportunity to work with some of the best construction professionals in the region."

Recent ICNW projects include Astling Green in Blackpool; an eco development which Great Places says is the first in the region to reach level five in the Code for Sustainable Homes.
